Highland Park Vintage 1973 - Cask Number.11167
Part of a two cask experiment undertaken by Highland Park. This bottling forms one stage of a fascinating journey into the mysterious wonders of malt whisky. In October 1973, two oak sherry casks were filled with new make spirit. Both casks were then left undisturbed - just a few feet apart in the same Highland Park warehouse until being bottled on the 22nd February 2001.
Cask 11167 has a light gold colour; a bouquet of leather and oak. a palate with rich, very peaty, mellow oak flavours and a rich, long finish.
The other cask (11151) is equally enjoyable but very dramatically different. Why?
