Karuizawa 1973 - 2008 Martin's Selection of Single Casks No.6249
The Karuizawa distillery was established in 1955 in the foothills of Mount Asama, an active volcano. The area is a popular mountain resort and the distillery is the highest in Japan at 850m above sea level. Sadly the distillery ceased production and was mothballed in 2000.
This single cask has been specially selected for the Norwegian market by Martin Tonder Smith. After tasting a large number of casks, Martin selected cask number 6249 from 1973 as the very best. This is 1 of only 342 bottles produced.
