Hanyu 1991 - 2009 Single Cask No.370
This Single Cask malt whisky is from the Hanyu distillery, that was located in a town bearing its name on the banks of the Tone river. The distillery was surrounded by barley and paddy fields. Hanyu was making malt whisky in the traditional Scottish way, but unfortunately stopped distilling in 2000.
The pot-stills and other whisky equipment were completely dismantled in 2004 because of a change of ownership. Fortunately the stock and facilities were saved by Ichiro, the grandson of the founders of the Hanyu distillery. His new distillery is now situated on the hill of Chichibu, where he was born. He started making whisky again on February 2008.
Distilled in 1991, matured in Hogshaed with a Japanes Oak finish and bottled in 2009. Imported to the UK from The Number One Drinks Company Ltd.
