Glendullan 12 Years Old - Madam Speaker's Order
Since the post of Speaker of the House of Commons came into being six centuries ago, there have been 154 male speakers. Betty Boothroyd has broken centuries of tradition by being the first woman elected to the prestigious office.
Miss Boothroyd, elected as Speaker in 1992, has held the seat of Member of Parliament for the constituency of West Bromwich since 1973 and is the only third speaker to be elected from the Labour benches.
On 11th July 1995, a tasting of some the finest malts whiskies took place in the House of Commons cellars. The Speakers together with a number of parliamentary colleagues specially selected this mellow, 12 years old single malt Scotch whisky with a fruity bouquet and smooth lingering finish.
