Cadenhead's Campbeltown Blended Whisky

If you’ve had the fortune to visit a Cadenhead’s shop in the UK then you’ll have seen the living casks they have on offer covering the different regions of Scottish whisky. These are often hidden gems offering great whiskies at a fantastic price and a variety of bottle sizes.

This particular example we know is Longrow from Springbank distillery, which was confirmed by the store manager at the time of purchase and is much older than what they normally offer in the shop casks. The story goes that during the 2014 summer months in Edinburgh, there was tourist run on anything peated. The shop eventually had no peated whisky whatsoever to sell, so an emergency call was put into Campbeltown and a Longrow cask was bottled and sent over to be poured back into the shop living cask.

The result is an excellent whisky bottled at 49.5% cask strength and purchased from the shop in September 2014. Needless to say, once word got out how good this cask was, its contents soon sold out. Having tasted this whisky ourselves in 2014, we can vouch for how good it is.
