Ardbeg 15 Years Old 2006 - Feis Ile 2022 Rare Cask No.9099

Created during a unique experiment with rare 'black sherry' casks, this single malt brings astonishing richness and spice to Ardbeg's classic style. Its spirit was distilled on 14th December 2006, then laid down in carefully chosen bourbon casks. Eight years later, Dr. Bill Lumsden had secured a handful of precious 'black sherry' casks, seasoned with a wine even more deep and intense than Pedro Ximenez. And intrigued to see how they might shape Ardbeg's sweet, smoky taste, he filled them with the whisky, imagining an extraordinary finish.

Most of those casks would go on to play their part in Ardbeg Dark Cove, an earthy, spicy whisky released for Ardbeg Day 2016. That limited edition recalled Islay's shadowy past as a smuggler's haunt. But marvelling at Cask No.9099's exceptional intensity, Dr. Bill Lumsden stowed it away for even longer. Now, aged for a total of 15 years, his creation is ready to share. Rich and peppery, with notes of leather, creosote, and spice, it is a darkly delicious Ardbeg.
