Lagavulin 13 Years Old - Jazz Festival 2021
The Islay Jazz Festival, an annual event in which the Lagavulin distillery takes part, has been welcoming visitors for many years. Each year, a limited Lagavulin natural cask strength is released to mark this special occasion.
This 13-year-old is the first Lagavulin ever matured in refill American oak and finished in Ex-Mazcal American standard barrels, this year's Jazz Festival exclusive has been exquisitely rearranged to reach new high notes.
On the nose, unusual smoky-meaty aromas lead to familiar linseed oil and fragrant smoke. The texture is smooth and rich, the taste sweet-savoury then warming, as waves of smoke sweep over the palate carrying hints of spicy wood and smoke-dried jalapeno pepper. New-found heat lingers with the smoke in a long finish.
