Macallan's Whisky Maker Sarah Burgess presents an unsurpassed single malt that has been allowed to develop over the last half a century in a first fill European Oak sherry seasoned cask, producing a remarkable ruby mahogany coloured spirit. The exceptional character and richness has been created through hundreds of years of dedicated craftsmanship that is at the heart of The Macallan's unwavering commitment to the mastery of wood and spirit.

An obsession with quality has been the hallmark of The Macallan since its founding by Alexander Reid on a plateau above the river Spey in North-East Scotland. During the 1960s The Macallan was looking to the future and laying the foundations to develop the world's most admired and awarded single malt. Invaluable investment was taking place with a second plant and warehouse expansion, accompanied by an increase in the number of curiously small stills that play a fundamental role in the crafting of the 'new make' spirit. All of these foundations still remain at the heart of The Macallan today, ensuring the full-bodied, rich and fruity characteristics.

Another key pillar that shaped this spirit's journey was its natural development in a hand-picked sherry seasoned oak cask from Jerez de la Frontera, in which it slumbered for fifty two years. Our casks are the single greatest contributor to he outstanding character, and distinctive aromas and flavours, and are responsible for the flawless balance, poise and natural colour. The spirit is peerless in each every way.
