Glenfiddich IPA Experiment - Experimental Series 1,2,3,4

Batch one, two, three & four from the Glenfiddich Experimental Series.

Series 1 43% - One of the first pair of entries in the Glenfiddich Experimental Series – a whisky finished in casks seasoned with India Pale Ale. The Speyside Craft Brewery created a special beer which was aged in ex-Glenfiddich casks for a month before they were returned to the distillery and filled with whisky for a three-month finish.

Series 2 47% - 20 Minds - One Unexpected Whisky!

Brian Kingsman (Glenfiddich's Malt Master) conducted one of the most exciting malt experiments in Glenfiddich's 130-year history. Its codename was XX, pronounced twenty. 20 whisky experts from 16 countries were invited to the distillery and each given complete freedom to explore the warehouse and chose any single cask that intrigued them.

Series 3, Batch 2 43% - The third bottle from Glenfiddich in the experimental series is an impressive 21-year-old single malt named "Winter Storm". This Limited Edition has been aged for 21 years and finished in small batches of ice-wine casks from Canada.

Mr Brian Kinsman experienced the freezing Canadian January weather to learn how the grapes had to be picked at moonlight at -10°C when they were as hard as pebbles. Working with Peller Estates VP of Winemaking, Craig MacDonald, it was an opportunity to push the boundaries of taste to create unexpected whisky.

Brian then experimented with several French oak ice-wine casks from the Canadian winery, filling them with different Glenfiddich aged malts for up to six months. Only the rarer whiskies, those aged for 21 years, could cope with the extra ice wine intensity.

Series 4 43% - Number 4 in the Glenfiddich Experimental Series. Fire & Cane features a fusion of two bold flavours coming together to form the unexpected combination of smoky Glenfiddich whisky finished in sweet Latin rum casks.

Inspired by the early innovation of Malt Master Brian Kinsman, who in 2003 first ran peated spirit through the Glenfiddich stills.
