Port Charlotte 8 Years Old - Port Sgioba Private Cask
Port Sgioba is the first whisky to be bottled by Friends Over A Hogshead (FOAH).The name Port Sgioba (pronounced Skee-bah) from the Gaelic for Port Charlotte. History was made in 2001 when, after more than 70 years, Bruichladdich Distillery re-started production of Port Charlotte spirit, in homage to the nearby Port Charlotte Distillery which sadly, closed in 1929. “The phoenix is re-born” wrote the Ileach of the venture to resurrect Port Charlotte; this dram is therefore truly history in a glass.
This independent bottling is an authentic example of the PC style from one of the few remaining Sherry Hogsheads from the inaugural vintage.
Bottled at natural strength, it is non-chill filtered and colouring free. The spirit was distilled on 6th Dec 2001, and matured for over 8 years by the shores of Loch Indaal.
Complimenting this bottling, the label features an original painting by Scottish artist, Ian Gray.
