2022 White Tiger of the West - Mythical Guardians Series
    Lot #1480034
    FINISH DATE
    16 March 2026

This stunning bottle of single malt was distilled at the famous Islay distillery Bowmore, and released in 2022 after 39 long years of maturation in Sherry casks. Released as the fourth release in the Chinese Mythical Guardians Series, this Bowmore 39 Year Old pays homage to the White Tiger of the West; one of the gods found in Chinese Constellations. Each of the 888 bottles that were produced has been individually numbered, bottled at the natural strength of 49.9% ABV, and sold exclusively by premium spirit stores in China. Every wax-sealed bottle features artwork of the White Tiger of the West, along with a distinctive box & decorative gold-plated medallion. This bottle is a fantastic example of a rare and mature Islay single malt that stands out with its exceptional presentation.

    Bowmore

If we go by official dates, Bowmore is Islay’s oldest distillery in operation today, kicking off in 1779. Set in a spectacular location, along the coastline from the village of the same name. Bowmore had a mighty reputation founded on some classic whiskies from the 1960s. These have been released in a series of special editions and thankfully the current distillate is excellent. Somehow, Bowmore mixes the peat of Islay with a coastal vibe that is underpinned by a wonderful fruitiness. Shrouded in history, it also arguably has Scotland’s most famous and atmospheric warehouse in the Vault No.1. Stepping into this and walking through the maturing casks, while the ocean crashes against the outer wall, is well worth the price of admission.
