Annandale 10 Years Old 2015
One of the most impressive restorations of a previously lost distillery. Annandale was originally founded in 1830 by George Donald, before being purchased by the Kilmarnock firm Johnnie Walker in 1893, who were seeking deals with various distilleries to ensure blending stock. The distillery was closed in 1921 and production equipment was sold off, leaving the buildings to help produce porridge oats and shelter cattle for the Robinson family who took over in 1924. What remained of the site was purchased by David Thomson and Teresa Church in 2007. Spending over £10 million in resurrecting the distillery to its original splendour, the project took 7 years to complete. We’re now able to enjoy the lowland style of Annandale (both peated and unpeated) whilst visiting one of Scotland’s most impressive new (or new-old?) distilleries.
