Yamazakura (Asaka) 6 Years Old 2018

Selected to mark the 5th anniversary of Aloha Whisky Bar, this non-peated Asaka single malt whisky was matured for just over 6 years in a 2nd fill ex-Bourbon barrel. This is the 22nd release in the Yoshitoshi Ghost Series, a rare selection of Japanese whiskies curated by whisky enthusiast and author Stefan Van Eycken, known for Whisky Rising: The Definitive Guide to the Finest Whiskies and Distillers of Japan. Each bottle in the collection showcases a Ukiyo-e artwork from Yoshitoshi's New Forms of 36 Ghosts. This print shows an unsuspecting traveler drawn into a temple late at night where he finds a multitude of strange phantoms cavorting. Here, he is seen throwing one of the larger ghosts to the ground with an animated Buddha statue presiding over the chaotic scene.
