Woodford Reserve Bourbon
Established in 1812, today the Woodford Reserve is owned by the Brown-Forman Corporation, who purchased the brand in 1941. Its spiritual home is the Labrot & Graham Distillery, previously known as the Old Oscar Pepper Distillery, which was founded by James Crow and Oscar Pepper in 1812. In a rich distilling state such as Kentucky, this makes Woodford Reserve the oldest producing site which is some accolade. The distillery is fairly untouched and is one of the smallest in Kentucky, that’s a fortunate accident as Brown-Forman decided to sell it in the 1960s to a local farmer. Thankfully it was not demolished and realising their oversight, Brown-Forman purchased it again in 1993, before investing in modernising the distillery and relaunching the brand in 1996. Since then, the range has expanded, receiving international distribution and has enjoyed a massive surge in popularity.
