West Midlands Distillery

The 2nd release from the West Midlands Distillery. This Double Cask release marries two carefully selected casks: a first-fill Heaven Hill bourbon barrel and an ex-Islay quarter cask (Cask No.006 & 007). Each were filled with new make produced using Voss yeast and Laureate Plumage Archer Barley. These casks have been married to create a rich and flavourful, lightly peated expression. Named Rowielia as a tribute to their distillery home in Rowley Regis. Derived from the Anglo-Saxon words "ruh" (rough) and "leagh" (clearing or wood) - a rough clearing or wood. The Regis part was added in the 12th century to signify the area was part of the Royal hunting grouds. Richi is stone "Rowley Rag" and coal, from the 30-foot seam that ran across the region. It is this coal, stone and wood that epitomise this historical region that they have drawn inspiration for this release. Each bottle has been hand-painted by the distilling team to represent the cask and prominent flavour profile, the key to which is inside the box. In addition to this, the colour of the bottle itself is stone grey, representing this being lightly peated.
