West Midlands Distillery Inaugural Release

This bottling was one of the Inaugural releases launched in 2025, and as the name suggests, it has been matured in a single Bourbon Quarter Cask. It was produced using Plumage Archer barley, then fermented with a Hornindal yeast, and filled to cask in 2022. The cask yielded 131 individually numbered bottles, all captured at 53.8% abv. The very first single malt English whisky produced and released from the Midlands of England, by the West Midlands Distillery, WMD. Their goal was always to make uncompromising whisky using brewing and distilling methods passed down through their families, focused on flavour. From floor malting heritage grains through selecting brewers yeasts and varying fermentation times, to distillation in direct fire copper pot stills, tradition is key to the process. Finally cask selection identifies the freshest and most active casks including re-coopering casks to produce smaller casks that increase effect on maturation.
