The cask was re-gauged in the 30/04/2026, following are the results of the re-gauge. New Bulk Litres: 180.79 New Strength: 65.37% New Litres of Alcohol: 118.18 Original Litres of Alcohol: 157.50 Tasting Notes by Angus MacRaild (Whisky Consultant & Author) Nose: the wine influence is clear but balanced and well-integrated. An immediate impression of rosewater, lychee and banana bread, with some background notes of toasted walnut and cherry liqueur. With time it gathers a leafy quality and soft earthy and bready notes. Water elevates the sweeter components and brings a clear flower honey note. Palate: the spice of the wood is more assertive and up front on the palate. There are also some sharper and more pronounced red fruit qualities, some cider apple tartness and pomegranate molasses. Water brings a softness to the overall profile, cools down the wood spice and brings out notes of dried mint, liquorice and hot toddy. Finish: medium, displaying a nice balance of honey and wood spice. Comments: showing some unusual characteristics but with good power and assertiveness. This one could be bottled now but could easily mature onwards for at least a decade. Benefits positively from water. Non-UK buyers must appoint a duty representative to act on his/her behalf for transfer of ownership of the cask. The duty representative will need to be registered with HMRC and will normally charge an annual fee for the service.
