Torys whisky was first launched in April 1946 under the slogan "Good Taste, Good Value". As whisky was considered a luxury item in those days, Torys soon became very popular for offering fine flavour at a good price. In 1958, "Uncle Torys" debuted as the brand's icon and can be spotted on these bottles and packaging. Uncle Torys became a popular presence during Japan's period of rapid economic growth. He symbolised the typical office worker who often enjoyed a glass of whisky while relaxing after a hard day at work. Besides commercials, recent years have also seen Uncle Torys appear on labels and packaging.
