Thompson Bros Mystery Malt

The Thompson Bros (from Dornoch Distillery) Mystery Malt Series No. 1 is an innovative independent bottling concept launched in 2024/2025, designed to add an element of surprise to single malt Scotch whisky purchases. Each bottle is presented in opaque black glass with a uniform label, bottled at 48.5% ABV. The distillery name and age are concealed under the capsule seal and on a cork sticker, revealed only upon opening. This first series comprises 16 different single cask expressions from a mix of established and newer Scottish distilleries, with ages ranging from 4 to 29 years. The total outturn is 1,329 bottles, which sold out quickly. It's not a single whisky but a "lottery" of high-quality drams, selected for balance and value, often from stock that might otherwise be harder to market.
