Tamdhu 43 Years Old 1969 Vintage

A single cask, single malt from Tamdhu distillery, Speyside, this is the oldest ever release of a 1969 vintage at time of writing, (December 2024). Tamdhu in this form is exceedingly rare as the whisky produced at the distillery was predominantly used in blended malts and whiskies. The distillery was established in 1896 but lay dormant between 1927 and 1947. The volume of spirit produced in 1969 was only a fraction of that which was made from 1972 onwards when the capacity was tripled.  This bottling is presented in a shaped decanter which rests within a wooden Tantalus constructed using oak staves taken from casks which previously held the whisky it protects. Very limited outturn form cask No.159. Bottled by Duncan Taylor, one of the oldest independent bottlers in the business having been established in 1938.
