    Strathclyde

For a time, Strathclyde was the last remaining distillery in Glasgow with the closure of Port Dundas. That’s changed with a new wave of malt distilleries, but we shouldn’t overlooked this grain distillery that was established in the Gorbals area of the city in 1927 by London firm, Seager Evans. Seager were more known for their gin, meaning Strathclyde was employed to provide neutral spirits, which is something that Cameronbridge still does to this day. Eventually, in 1936, Strathclyde moved into grain whisky production when it was acquired by Schenley Industries to support the Long John blend. Strathclyde’s main claim to fame for malt enthusiasts is that it played host to the Kinclaith malt distillery from 1957 to 1975; an exceptionally rare whisky. Today, it is owned by Pernod Ricard and provides content for its blends.
