Staoisha (Bunnahabhain) 2014 Butt No.1386

1x Staiosha (Bunnahabhain) Cask No.1386, held in bond at Whisky Broker. The cask was filled in 2014. The cask was re-gauged in the 13th of December 2024, following are the results of the re-gauge. Re-gauge Bulk Litres: 364.08 Re-gauge Strength: 62% Re-gauge Litres of Alcohol: 225.86 Tasting Notes by Angus MacRaild (Whisky Consultant & Author) Colour: pale gold. Nose: pure and clean peat smoke, with an impression of creaminess and texture behind it. Typically very coastal, salty, briny and with many notes the cross over into umami and savoury impressions, such as soy sauce, black olive and anchovy paste. With water: very clean, with mineral salts, drying peat smoke, camphor and tar. Palate: perhaps a tad closed by the high alcohol. But still very focussed and peaty, with more petrol and mechanical characteristics. With water: much improved and broadened by water, gaining more mineral and saline complexity, a fuller texture in the mouth and some impressive tarry rope character. Finish: long, with a pure coastal character, but also a rather fat peaty and petrolic character persisting into the aftertaste. Comments: impressive, rugged and characterful young, heavily peated Bunnahabhain. Although, I would say some reduction is essential to experience it at its most impressive. Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Just Whisky. Funds will be held by Just Whisky until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling. Non-UK buyers must appoint a duty representative to act on his/her behalf for transfer of ownership of the cask. The duty representative will need to be registered with HMRC and will normally charge an annual fee for the service. UK revenue trader (business or private individual connected to the trade), will need to be registered with HMRC and hold a WOWGR certificate.
