George T. Stagg was born in Kentucky on December 19, 1835. Stagg built the most dominant American distillery of the 19th century on the banks of the Kentucky River, during a time known as the Gilded Age of Bourbon. The Distillery survived floods, fires, droughts and even Prohibition - when it made whiskey for medicinal purposes. Today, Buffalo Trace Distillery strives to carry on the tradition of its famous forefather. Uncut and unfiltered, this robust bourbon whiskey ages for nearly a decade and boasts the bold character that is reminiscent of the man himself.
Buffalo Trace

Buffalo Trace Distillery is one of America’s oldest continually operating distilleries and a cornerstone of Kentucky bourbon history. Located in Frankfort, Kentucky, the site’s distilling heritage dates back to 1775, with the modern distillery formally established in 1870. It takes its name from the ancient buffalo trails that once crossed the nearby Kentucky River, routes later used by early American pioneers. Renowned for its commitment to traditional production methods, Buffalo Trace uses the same mashbills, copper column stills, and time-honoured processes that have shaped its whiskey for generations. The distillery is famous for balancing consistency with innovation, producing a wide range of bourbons and rye whiskeys while maintaining a strong focus on quality and long-term ageing. Its warehouses, some of the oldest in the United States, play a vital role in developing the distinctive character of its spirits. Today, Buffalo Trace is owned by the Sazerac Company and enjoys global recognition for both its heritage and its award-winning whiskeys. Home to iconic brands such as Buffalo Trace Bourbon, Eagle Rare, George T. Stagg, William Larue Weller, and Pappy Van Winkle, the distillery has become one of the most influential and respected names in American whiskey,
