Springbank 1994 Hogshead Cask No.27

1x Springbank 1994 Hogshead (Refill Sherry) Cask No.27, held in bond at Springbank distillery, Campbeltown. The cask was filled in 1994, it has been maturing in a bonded warehouse at the Springbank distillery ever since. The cask was re-gauged in the 13th of August 2024, following are the results of the re-gauge. Regauge Bulk Litres: 140.3 Regauge Strength: 43.8% Reguage Litres of Alcohol: 61.6 Tasting Notes by Angus MacRaild (Whisky Consultant & Author) Colour: bright straw. Nose: very clearly Springbank in profile. A cask with very subtle wood influence and a lot of dominance by coastal freshness, delicate peat smoke, waxes, coal smoke, celery salt and a very pure chalky, mineral and a cereal character. Soft but well defined and very elegant. Palate: good sense of power despite the relatively low natural cask strength. Once again on coastal and brittle peat smoke notes. Many impressions of crushed sea shell, beach pebble and hessian, balanced with some very subtle exotic fruit aspects. Again there's also waxy characteristics, some sooty notes and camphor. A very clear, clean and direct Springbank distillery character. Finish: medium in length, there is an undeniable softness, but the mineral character, bone-dry peat smoke and soft coastal and peppery qualities linger nicely and with a good sense of warmth. Comments: Very distinctly Springbank, but with an undeniable delicateness. The mineral, waxy, coastal and peat characteristics are very dominant and present in a highly pleasurable way. IMPORTANT: The buyer of this cask must arrange to remove the cask from Springbank Distillery within 90 days of the auction ending, unless already a Cask Owners Member at Springbank. Removal Fee: £160 - Transfer Ownership Fee: £70 Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Just Whisky. Funds will be held by Just Whisky until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling. Non-UK buyers must appoint a duty representative to act on his/her behalf for transfer of ownership of the cask. The duty representative will need to be registered with HMRC and will normally charge an annual fee for the service.UK revenue trader (business or private individual connected to the trade), will need to be registered with HMRC and hold a WOWGR certificate.
