Springbank 1968 Cask No. 484

Private Bottling
Lot #0770168
FINISH DATE
30 April 2020
A rare and distinguished single malt from the legendary Springbank Distillery, crafted for a private cask owner. Distilled on 30th March 1968 and matured for an extraordinary 35 years, this whisky was drawn and bottled on 25th November 2003 at its natural cask strength, preserving every nuance of its long and patient maturation. From Cask No. 484, this release is a true one-of-a-kind expression, offering a snapshot of Springbank’s character from a golden era. Expect remarkable depth, with layers of rich, aged oak, dried fruits, soft maritime notes, and a lingering complexity that only decades in the cask can impart. A piece of whisky history, treasured by collectors and connoisseurs alike.
Springbank

Seen by some as Scotland’s, if not the world’s greatest distillery, Springbank is a unique proposition. Not much has changed at Springbank since its inception in 1828; it still follows a historical oddity of distilling, it remains owned by J&A Mitchell and it still uses floor malting for 100% of its requirements. And all of this from the fairly remote location of Campbeltown, which is the former distilling capital of Scotland. Three distinct styles are produced at the distillery with a triple distilled whisky (Hazelburn), a heavily peated (Longrow) and the classic Springbank. More than ever before, these are in huge demand from the UK and international distributors. Due to the historical nature of the distillery and the methods they follow, production cannot be increased too dramatically to accommodate rising demand. Sadly, it looks like we’ll all have to chase a little harder for anything Springbank-related for a while to come.
