Nestled on the tranquil banks of the Tromie River Speyside Distillery is widely acknowledged as being the prettiest of all Scotland's distilleries. Originally a barley mill and croft dating back to the 1700's it finally closed in 1965. Over the next 25 years it was slowly and lovingly converted into a single malt distillery which started producing spirit on the 3rd December 1990. The old mill and water wheel were retained and are still in working order. The distillery takes it's name from the original Speyside Distillery in Kingussie which started in 1895 and only produced until 1905 before being demolished in 1911. The distillery is closer to the source of the River Spey than any other distillery in Scotland, providing access to the area's richest, purest water. This particular blended scotch whisky, the youngest componant of which is 30 years old is exceptionally rare. That it was distilled on the 25 December 1964, Christmas Day, is also pretty unique. Created to celebrate the centenary of the establishment of the original Speyside distillery in Kingussie in 1895, it also celebrates 30 years of the of the new Speyside distillery. Bottled for Christmas 1995 - each elegant decanter is still shaped and individually numbered.

    Blended Whisky

Blended whisky is an artful marriage of different types of whiskies, typically combining grain whiskies with malt whiskies from various distilleries. This blending process aims to achieve a balance, creating a whisky with a harmonious flavour profile where the strengths of each component are highlighted, while any potential weaknesses are cleverly masked. Blended whiskies offer a consistent taste across batches, making them a favourite for both new whisky drinkers and connoisseurs alike. They can vary widely in style, often providing a smoother, more approachable character than single malts, and are perfect for enjoying neat, on the rocks, or as the foundation for a cocktail. Each blend is a unique recipe, often kept secret by master blenders, showcasing their expertise in creating a spirit that's greater than the sum of its parts.
