    Dufftown (Singleton)

Originally, Dufftown was a meal mill that was converted into a distillery in 1895 with production started the following year. Today, it is one of Diageo’s workhorses producing constantly for blends and the growing Singleton range. While it is not open to the public, you can walk around the fringes of the site and get a sense of the hustle and bustle of a very busy distillery where space is maximised. Despite all that whisky, Dufftown remains relatively attached to blending requirements. Historically from the Bell’s range until it was expanded a couple of times in the 1970s. The whisky has always been cereal based with spicy notes that lends itself well to blending but also single malts when these do appear outside of the core Singleton range, which is increasingly reaching new markets and raising the profile of this distillery that is named after one of Scotland’s distilling towns.
