Sikes Hydrometer

A hydrometer by L. Oertling, London makers to the Inland Revenue. Serial No.2323. Ludwig Oertling worked in London from 1844 until his death in 1893. His son Henry continued the business until his death in 1921. The company was sold to W & T Avery in 1925 who continued to use the Oertling name due to the quality of the instruments. Earlier models after being in use for many years have become collectors items and are tribute to the very fine engineering and cabinet making skills of the company.
