Old Fitzgerald Prime 7 Years Old

The Stitzel-Weller distillery is a name that resonates beyond North America and its location just outside of Louisville. Founded in 1935, by two companies that had combined forces, it tapped into the post-Prohibition boom and managed to survive hard economic times, world events and the decline in demand for bourbon until its closure in 1992. Prior to this, the distillery was sold by the family in 1972 under the condition that they would retain the Van Winkle brand name and access to whiskies to support their brand. The remnants of the distillery were obtained by Diageo in 1997, before being reopened in 2014 with a new purpose as home to the Bulleit Frontier Whiskey Experience and brands such as Orphan Barrel, I.W. Harper and Blade and Bow. The distillery site is now mainly used for maturation.
