Mosstowie was produced at Miltonduff Distillery using a Lomond Still between 1964 & 1981, when the notoriously difficult to manage Still was torn out and replaced with a traditional Pot Still.

Mosstowie was not a standalone distillery but rather a unique expression of whisky produced at the Miltonduff Distillery in Speyside, Scotland. Between 1964 and 1981, Miltonduff utilized innovative Lomond stills, which were designed to offer versatility in spirit character by allowing adjustments during the distillation process. Named after the Mosstowie area near the distillery, this whisky was an experimental venture by Hiram Walker, aiming to create different styles of malt whisky for blending purposes, particularly for their Ballantine's blend.
