Macallan 30 Years Old

Launched in 2008, The Masters of Photography Number 1: Macallan 30 years old Rankin is a unique and innovative collaboration of fine, rare Scotch Malt Whisky and contemporary art. Demarking the transition from conventional to digital photography, the world-acclaimed photographer Rankin created this collection of portraits using individual polaroids to capture the unique atmosphere of the Macallan distillery and the estate.

Each of the 1000 Macallan 30 years old Rankin bottles bear a unique front label that is matched to the original polaroid, with only 189 bottles featuring colour images. There is, however, a tantalising subset of only 49 colour pictures that feature Rankin’s muse, Tuuli. Further, a small reserve of images was retained as exclusively available to the Macallan team, some of which were judged to be insensitive to certain cultures and traditions.

In this example, Rankin uniquely captures a beautiful image of Tuuli within a new washback that was being crafted during the Macallan silent season of 2008.

The Masters of Photography Number 1: Rankin Edition is presented in a black leather box, lined with velvet and contains an original Rankin Polaroid. Each unique bottle has an individually printed label which matches the specific Polaroid contained within the box and a booklet of authenticity signed by Rankin.

The Macallan Fine Oak 30 Years Old is the pinnacle expression of the Fine Oak range and is matured in three exceptional oak cask types. This complex combination of casks exudes complexity and smoothness in an incomparable way, with notes of sandalwood, vanilla and black cherry.
