Longmorn 57 Years Old 1961

G&M Private Collection 'Twin' Miniature Set (2x1cl) **Not For Resale**
Lot #0710482
FINISH DATE
31 October 2019
Filled on the same day into casks of different oak, our Private Collection from Longmorn Distillery 1961 by Gordon & MacPhail 'Twin' whiskies, selected by identical twin brothers Stuart and Richard Urquhart from the owning family, are the oldest Longmorn single malts ever released.

On 2 February 1961, George Urquhart commissioned a filling of first sherry casks at the Longmorn Distillery. Both whiskies began life with inherently the same DNA, the only difference between the two being the species of oak: Cask 508 was made from European Oak (Quercus Robur) while Cask 512 was built using American Oak (Quercus Alba). Over the next 57 years, the whiskies matured into their own unique expressions until being bottled on 2nd February 2018.

This pack contains 1cl miniature samples of both casks.

States not for resale.
Longmorn

Longmorn is a distillery that enjoys a cult fanbase today, mostly thanks to the well appreciated 16 year old that arrived in 2007, before being replaced in 2016. It’s sequel might be slightly more expensive and not as good, but the love around Longmorn still continues. Originally founded in 1893 by John Duff & Company, production followed in 1894, before John took full ownership of the distillery. His undoing is building a distillery next door (Benriach) just before a crash in consumer demand and confidence. Forcing him to sell the company which today is owned by Pernod Ricard. Much of Longmorn goes into the Chivas blends, but since the capacity was increased in 2012, this allowed Pernod to refresh and increase the Longmorn range in 2019. Hopefully, we’ll be seeing more of this classy Speyside distillery in the coming years.
