Lot #1100359
FINISH DATE

This lot contains three of the inaugural releases from the isle or Arran's newest distillery, Lagg. Batch 1 is 100% first-fill Bourbon Cask matured for 36 months to highlight the Lagg house style. Batch 2 is initially matured for 30 months in first-fill Bourbon before being finished for 6 months in 55 litre Oloroso Sherry Casks. Batch 3 is initially matured for 30 months in first-fill Bourbon before being finished for 6 months in 50 litre ex-Rioja Red Wine charred casks. All batches have been made from malted Concierto barley peated using peat from North East Scotland, to a level of 50PPM. Each are limited to 10,000 bottles made.
Lagg

The Laag distillery is a new distillery on the Isle of Arran, situated on the southern end of the island. This was once home to illicit distilling and this distillery came online in 2019. Its focus is a peated distillate and it has taken over responsibility from the Arran (Lochranza) distillery for producing this style. It is also home to a more experimental mindset than the original Arran distillery, different types of fermentation, barley and yeasts. The same mindset also applies to the peat, with different sources being utilised so that their effects can be noted. Lagg on paper is an exciting prospect, free from some of the restraints and demands that other new distilleries must endure. They’ve also planted over 140 trees, so that they can produce their own brandy and cider, as opposed to the gins that most new distilleries release.
