Jack Daniel's Single Barrel

From Jack Daniel's, this Tennessee Whiskey was matured in a single barrel (No.8-0883) in Rick No.R-32 before it was bottled for the German market on the 17th of March 2008 to celebrate the Jack Daniel's BBQ held on the 21st of June 2008. Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel follows the same process as Old No. 7 but with key differences. It’s bottled at a higher 45% ABV (100 proof) and matured in specific areas of the barrelhouse. Like No. 7, it’s made from corn, rye, barley and iron-free water, and every drop is mellowed through 10 feet of sugar maple charcoal, which defines it as Tennessee whiskey, not bourbon. During maturation, heat opens the oak’s pores and cold contracts them, pulling the whiskey in and out of the wood to develop colour and flavour. Barrels chosen for Single Barrel are placed in the hottest, highest parts of the barrelhouse—known as “the Angels’ Roost”—where Lynchburg’s extreme seasonal temperatures drive a more intense interaction with the wood. This creates the concentrated, complex character unique to Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel.
