In 1904, at the urging of his family and friends, Jack Daniel travelled from small town of Lynchburg, Tennessee to the world's fair in St. Louis, Missouri.
There were 8 judges from all over the world, and they spent more than four hours sampling all 24 entries. When it was over, Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey was the winner and was awarded the Gold medal as the finest whiskey in the world.
