This lot contains the inaugural release from the new Lowlands distillery called Holyrood, based in Edinburgh.
For this single malt release, they have matured their spirit in Oloroso Butts, Pedro Ximenez Hogsheads, Bourbon Barrels and Rum Barriques. These casks have been selected to showcase the complex flavours that can be achieved by Holyrood distillery at any age.
Bottled at 46.1% and limited to a total of 8,188 bottles produced.

Finally, Edinburgh has a new distillery. It seems long overdue with the current whisky boom and an explosion in tourism for Scotland’s capital city. Founded in 2019, this £7 million project is located in a historical area of the city, in a 180-year-old listed building that was formerly an engine shed. The team which includes the SMWS Canada co-founders and a former Macallan Master Distiller, brought single malt production back to Edinburgh for the first time since 1925. Innovation is a key component, as the distillery won’t be sticking to one specific style. Instead, they are looking to support 5 distinct variations featuring a variety of different strains of yeast, peating levels and cask maturation.

How can I bid on the auctions?
You’ll need an account with us to place bids in any auction. Registration takes 60 seconds and there’s a small £5.00 registration fee, payable by credit or debit card. Why does the timer extend on a lot?
In the interest of fairness, any bids placed in the final five minutes of a particular lot will extend the end time of that Lot by 15 minutes. We believe in giving our customers a fair amount of time to increase their bid should they wish. Last second sniping isn’t in the spirit of our auctions and by using this system there is no benefit to doing so.

The first step is to get your whisky to us. We can help with courier collections, or you can arrange transport yourself. Once at Just Whisky, we’ll handle photography and description of your lots and enter your whisky into our auction. We take payment, then pay you within 14 days of the auction end date.
