    To create 15 Year Old Viking Heart, Gordon Motion, their Master Whisky Maker, selected predominantly sherry seasoned European oak casks to deliver warm, spicy notes and sherry seasoned American oak casks to provide a balance of sweet vanilla. Expertly adding just a few refill casks to soften and smooth the flavours, Gordon chose to bottle at 44% ABV to allow the whisky’s vibrant fruitiness and distinctive heathery peat smoke to shine through. Why a ceramic decanter? Rewind a century or two and whisky would have been stored in earthenware vessels. Inspired by examples found at the distillery in Orkney, they asked Wade Ceramics if they could work with us to create a modern version. Established in 1810 and based in Stoke-on-Trent in England (known globally as the traditional home of ceramics) Wade share Highland Park's commitment to environmental responsibility, focusing on sustainable manufacturing and using locally sourced raw materials. The lead-free porcelain decanter is 100% food safe, glazed inside and out, and embossed with the lion and serpent design that appears on many of the Highland Park glass bottles. Look closely at the back of the bottle and you’ll find the heart motif that inspired this whisky’s name.

    The Macallan might be the jewel in the crown of Edrington, but a close second is Highland Park, especially after the brand investment, it has received in recent times. Established in 1798 by David Robertson on the outskirts on Kirkwall on Orkney, history suggests the site was used for illicit distillery way before this official date. In a landscape shaped by nature, ravaged by Vikings and the tides of war, Highland Park manages to bring everything together. A historical whisky that is universally appreciated, offering a little bit of something and famously called an ‘all rounder’, from locally sourced peat to a welcoming rugged characteristic. Highland Park doesn’t need the branding to stand out from the crowd. An increasingly varied core range can seem bewildering to someone new, so start with the 18 year old and being your voyage.

Once at Just Whisky, we’ll handle photography and description of your lots and enter your whisky into our auction. We take payment, then pay you within 14 days of the auction end date.
