1x Heaven Hill Cask No.152731, held in bond at Whisky Broker. The cask was filled in 2009. The cask was re-gauged in the 13th of December 2024, following are the results of the re-gauge. Re-gauge Bulk Litres: 169.46 Re-gauge Strength: 61.2% Re-gauge Litres of Alcohol: 103.75 Tasting Notes by Angus MacRaild (Whisky Consultant & Author) Colour: deep gold. Nose: a well balanced and approachable profile, with butterscotch, popcorn and coconut shavings up front, there's also a pleasing lack of aggression from the alcohol, despite the high ABV. Continues with candy floss, some cooking oils and toasted marshmallow. Water brings a more nuanced aroma profile, with softer notes of sandalwood and meadow flowers. Palate: classical 'early landed' bourbon profile, with familiar impressions of varnish and glue, followed by burnt orange peel, liquorice root and gently drying wood spices. Some specific notes of pine wood resins, orange cough syrup and tea tree oil. Water releases more oiliness but also more wood spice and firmer cereal notes. A feeling of rye-driven spiciness in the mouth now. Finish: good length. Robust spices lingering with more bitter orange notes, hardwood resins and liquorice. Comments: a fine and well-structured Heaven Hill, that clearly bears the influence, and benefit, of a longer cooler climate maturation. There's some attractive spiciness throughout that makes it a compelling dram. Legal ownership of the cask will be transferred to the buyer once payment has been received by Just Whisky. Funds will be held by Just Whisky until the buyer is in legal receipt of the cask ownership to protect the buyer's transaction. The buyer will be responsible for any costs relating to removing the cask from bond in the future (i.e UK excise duty / VAT) as well as any other costs associated with cask movement and bottling. Non-UK buyers must appoint a duty representative to act on his/her behalf for transfer of ownership of the cask. The duty representative will need to be registered with HMRC and will normally charge an annual fee for the service. UK revenue trader (business or private individual connected to the trade), will need to be registered with HMRC and hold a WOWGR certificate.

    Heaven Hill

Despite being such a huge name in whiskey and bourbon production, supplying a variety of other brands, Heaven Hill is a relatively new name in distilling terms. Founded in 1935 as the Old Heavenhill Springs by the Shapira brothers and investors, the family still retains ownership today after buying out other parties in 1943. The distillery has gone from strength to strength. By 1955, it had filled its 500,000th barrel and by 2018 had surpassed 8 million. Guided by the presence of a Beam family member as the master distiller, starting with Park Beam in the 1940s and ending with Craig Beam in 2017, who had to care for his father. Heaven Hill has grown in size, influence and reach, adding new facilities and brands to its range such as Henry McKenna while also owning rum, liqueur and vodka brands.
