Glenturret 12 Years Old

University of St.Andrews | Spirit of Celebration 2024 Edition
Lot #1490691
FINISH DATE
20 April 2026
A celebration of two of Scotland's oldest institutions, this Glenturret 12 Year Old Single Malt was created in partnership with the University of St Andrews and sold exclusively through the university shop. The Spirit of Celebration edition unites Scotland's oldest working distillery with its oldest university, while the rich red velvet packaging pays homage to the iconic student gowns that have been worn at St Andrews for centuries — a tradition no other ancient Scottish university continues to this day.
Glenturret

Glenturret is one of Scotland’s oldest, if not the oldest distillery, founded in 1775 officially under the name of Hosh, by illicit distillers. Unsurprisingly there is a rich history to the site, which is one of the most picturesque distilleries in Scotland. By current standards, Glenturret is a very small producer and until recently was used mainly by Edrington as a Famous Grouse attraction, thereby overlooking the single malt. It was never a comfortable fit and came to an end in 2019 when the Lalique Group purchased the distillery. Since then, a new single malt range has been launched in 2020, under the watchful eye of Bob Dalgarno was the Master blender at Macallan. He has taken the maturating stock and crafted a series of whiskies that remind many of Macallan, but at a fraction of the cost. A pleasant surprise to many in 2020, expectations are rising around Glenturret as it seeks to establish a new identity.
