    Glenrothes

Situated in the heart of Speyside distilling, in the town of Rothes, the Glenrothes distillery came into being in 1878, with production starting the following year. Blighted by fire and an explosion during its initial life, things settled down with the 1960s bringing an expansion in stills that were increased again in 1980 and 1989. Just before the millennium, the distillery is partially acquired by the Edrington Group who in 2010 give up the brand ‘Glenrothes’ to Berry Bros in exchange for the Cutty Sark blend. This decision is reversed in 2017 when Edrington purchase the brand once again, thereby reuniting the distillery with its whisky. This in recent times has prompted a refresh of the range and a drive to showcase Glenrothes internationally. The new range focuses more on age statements than Berry Bros preference for vintages, with sherry maturation continuing to play a major role.
