Glenmorangie Madeira Wood Finish

Lot #0330418
FINISH DATE
31 August 2016
Glenmorangie Madeira Wood Finish is a beautifully crafted Highland single malt that showcases the distillery’s signature elegance and innovation. Initially matured in American oak casks, the whisky is then transferred into carefully selected Madeira wine casks for a final period of finishing. This additional maturation imparts rich, complex layers of dried fruit, honeyed spice, and subtle nuttiness, enhancing Glenmorangie’s delicate, floral spirit with depth and warmth. A fine example of wood influence done right, this expression remains a sought-after release among fans of Glenmorangie’s earlier wood-finished range.
Glenmorangie

Situated on the outskirts of Tain in Ross-shire, Glenmorangie has enjoyed rapid success in recent times thanks to the patronage of Moet Hennessy, who acquired the distillery in 2004 for a sum of £300 million from the MacDonald family. Since then, there have been dramatic changes at the distillery and a makeover in terms of appearance including a new modern still house to expand capacity and a refreshing of the range. The new still building also includes fermentation and mashing, which raises the prospect of experimentation, or even a new mini-distillery under a different name. Led by Dr Bill Lumsden, Glenmorangie has pursued a range of cask finishes and no age statements to great success. The classic expression remains the 10 year old, but you’ll also see a variety of special editions and single casks. With the recent improvements, we can expect more from Glenmorangie in the coming years.
