Glenmorangie Dornoch

Limited Edition
Lot #0250541
FINISH DATE
31 December 2015
In the far north of Scotland, beside the ancient Royal Burgh of Tain, lies the Glenmorangie Distillery.
Established in 1843, the Distillery was named Glenmorangie, Scots Gaelic for ‘Glen of Tranquillity', perfectly describing its peaceful setting on the banks of the picturesque Dornoch Firth, a vast sea estuary and a worldwide Site of Special Scientific Interest.

To raise awareness for the conservation of the Dornoch Firth, Glenmorangie has partnered with the Marine Conservation Society to preserve this precious waterway. A donation was made to the Marine Conservation Society for every bottle sold.

It is this unique location that is perfectly celebrated by our latest limited edition: Glenmorangie Dornoch, crafted by Dr Bill using ex-bourbon American white oak casks to bring layers of distinctive floral, vanilla and citrus notes followed by an Amontillado sherry butt finish which brings an unexpected dimension of sweet smoky apples, complemented by vibrant sweet nutty flavours layered upon the rich , warm toffee and dried fruits.
Glenmorangie

Situated on the outskirts of Tain in Ross-shire, Glenmorangie has enjoyed rapid success in recent times thanks to the patronage of Moet Hennessy, who acquired the distillery in 2004 for a sum of £300 million from the MacDonald family. Since then, there have been dramatic changes at the distillery and a makeover in terms of appearance including a new modern still house to expand capacity and a refreshing of the range. The new still building also includes fermentation and mashing, which raises the prospect of experimentation, or even a new mini-distillery under a different name. Led by Dr Bill Lumsden, Glenmorangie has pursued a range of cask finishes and no age statements to great success. The classic expression remains the 10 year old, but you’ll also see a variety of special editions and single casks. With the recent improvements, we can expect more from Glenmorangie in the coming years.
