Glenlivet Founder's Reserve
The new Founders Reserve whisky balances these flavours exceptionally, with creaminess and sweetness characteristics made possible with the use of First Fill American oak casks.
One of the giant Speyside distilleries, Glenlivet had a humble beginning as a farm called Minmore, purchased by George Smith in 1858 who then established a distillery on the remote site. Stripping equipment from the closure of 2 other distilleries (Cairngorm, Upper Drummin), the renamed Glenlivet distillery sparks into life in 1859 and has gone from strength to strength since. The Glenlivet helped establish Speyside as a leading source of whisky and inspired others to use its name. Today, it is one of the biggest, if not the biggest in Scotland – engaged in an eternal struggle with Glenfiddich for bragging rights. Around 21 million litres are produced annually, which gives the distillery an incredible array of whiskies and a worldwide reach. Owned by Pernod Ricard, there are now 3 still rooms contained 14 pairs of stills; an incredible sight if you’re able to visit its remote location near Ballindalloch.
