The 8th edition from Glengoyne Cask Strength Releases. Batch No.8 was created from malts that were matured in a number of different barrels, with 50% of it coming from refill casks, 30% from first-fill sherry (40% American oak and 60% European oak), 10% first-fill bourbon and 10% Rioja cask.

    Glengoyne

Glengoyne is one of Scotland’s most picturesque distilleries and is a short trip from Glasgow in Dumgoyne. Originally founded in 1833 as the Burnfoot distillery, this area was a hotbed of illegal distilling, with its glens and abundance of water, crops and fuel sources. It wasn’t until 1905 that Glengoyne was renamed after a spell as Glenguin. Today, the distillery is firmly established thanks to the ownership of Ian Macleod Distillers who took over in 2003 after purchasing the distillery from the Edrington Group. They immediately sought to establish the distillery and build upon its reputation for using sherry casks and being unpeated. Those core principles remain today, although an ex-bourbon cask Glengoyne can be a lovely thing. Just over a million litres are produced annually and this supports a variety of age statements with the 21 year old being a highlight, while many enthusiasts enjoy the robust nature of the Teapot dram.
