Glenglassaugh 8 Years Old 2014

From independent bottler Fib Whisky Ltd comes the official bottling for the Fife Whisky Festival 2024. For this bottling, they have selected a single malt from Glenglassaugh, which was filled into cask on the 14th of May 2014, then matured for 8 years and 9 months in a first-fill Port barrique. It has also undergone a 2-month finishing period of maturation in a Sauternes Wine cask. Only 91 individually numbered bottles were released, and all were exclusively sold at the festival. The official tasting notes from organisers of the festival Justine and Karen are as follows- Nose: notes of strawberry laces dipped in butterscotch sauce followed by hints of fresh, crisp green apples and salted pistachios. There's just the slightest hint of an oily rag lurking in the background. Palate: hints of barley sugar sweeties develop together with notes of unripe peaches and vanilla tablet. Then strawberry jam and clotted cream notes appear before a hint of salted caramel leads to a long finish.
