Glenfiddich 21 Years Old

Winter Storm Experimental Series 3
Lot #1460298
FINISH DATE
19 January 2026
The third bottle from Glenfiddich in the experimental series is an impressive 21-year-old single malt named "Winter Storm". This Limited Edition has been aged for 21 years and finished in small batches of ice-wine casks from Canada. Mr. Brian Kinsman experienced the freezing Canadian January weather to learn how the grapes had to be picked at moonlight at -10°C when they were as hard as pebbles. Working with Peller Estates VP of Winemaking, Craig MacDonald, it was an opportunity to push the boundaries of taste to create unexpected whisky. Brian then experimented with several French oak ice-wine casks from the Canadian winery, filling them with different Glenfiddich aged malts for up to six months. Only the rarer whiskies, those aged for 21 years, could cope with the extra ice wine intensity.
Glenfiddich

When William Grant built his distillery in 1886, little did he know just what he was creating. Today, Glenfiddich is the most popular single malt in the world, quite a feat for a distillery built by the bare hands of its founder and family. Producing nearly 14 million litres annually, it’s also one of the biggest and engaged in a struggle with the Glenlivet. Forward-thinking, Glenfiddich was one of the first single malts to look beyond the domestic market, the first to adopt a triangle-shaped bottle in 1957 and to welcome visitors with a centre in 1969. The site on the edge of Dufftown is sizeable, and also features the other William Grant distilleries of Balvenie and Kininvie. The scale, organisation and efficiency of the whole operation is smooth, much like the whisky and why as a brand, few can compete with Glenfiddich.
