The GlenDronach Kingsman Edition 1989 Vintage. Expertly crafted by Master Blender Dr. Rachel Barrie, in a unique collaboration with Kingsman film franchise director Matthew Vaughn, to mark the release of The King’s Man. Matured in Oloroso sherry casks with a final maturation in Pedro Ximénez casks from Spain, this twenty-nine-year-old Single Malt is a masterful expression of exceptional complexity and depth, truly befitting a Kingsman. Only 3,052 bottles were available worldwide from 1st September 2020. Each luxurious box is adorned with the iconic bespoke Kingsman insignia and bears the signatures of both Dr. Rachel Barrie and Matthew Vaughn. The GlenDronach is revered for the dedication to exquisite sherry cask matured Single Malt since 1826. Like the Kingsman creed, the distillery values have remained constant; impossible perfection built on unshakeable tradition. This exceptional 1989 Vintage is inspired by the oldest bottle housed at The GlenDronach Distillery – a twenty-nine-year-old whisky bottled in 1913, just before the outbreak of the First World War. Three friends had each purchased a bottle before leaving for war, vowing to open them together on their return. Tragically, only one of them returned home. Having never opened his bottle, his family later gifted it to the distillery, where it remains unopened and displayed in remembrance of fallen friends.

    Glendronach

The crown jewel in the Brown Forman Scotch empire started life in 1826 near the village of Forgue in Aberdeenshire. A perfect spot, surrounded by farms eager to sell their barley to the distillery, which continues to this day. GlenDronach had an unsettled 90 years or so, with various owners and the menace of fire damaging the distillery. In 1960, William Teacher & Sons made the wise choice to purchase the distillery, which already had a reputation for using sherry casks. This only grew when an expansion to 4 stills was completed in 1966, despite being a rather unsightly extension amongst all the traditional buildings. A period of closure in the 90s to this day is being felt amongst supporting its age statements before new owners decided to sell to the Billy Walker consortium. Through his use of casks and special releases, a new generation fell in love with the whisky. An expanding range has been cut back by Brown Forman, who paid a sizeable fee to become the new owners of the distillery along with BenRiach and Glenglassaugh.
