Glen Scotia

Glen Scotia is one of those distilleries that you cannot keep down. Founded in the distillery graveyard that is Campbeltown in 1832 by the Stewart and Galbraith families, Glen Scotia has managed to survive periods of closure and several owners. Today, it is owned by the Loch Lomond Group who took over in 1999 and restarted production with a team from the nearby Springbank distillery, before a dedicated team started the following year. Since its latest reboot, Glen Scotia has enjoyed a variety of revamps in terms of its single malts (most famously the dayglo cows) before a much more successful revamp in 2015. This introduced us to the now popular Double Cask and the lightly peated Victoriana, which continue to be staples for many whisky drinkers. More recently there have been festival editions and in 2021, the 25 year old was named the best whisky in the world.
