Glen Scotia 14 Years Old 1992

"Fresh fish" Older style bottle from The Scotch Malt Whisky Society. Distilled in February 1992 at Glen Scotia distillery, Campbeltown. Bottled in July 2006 at full strength by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society. Glen Scotia (originally named Scotia) was founded in 1832 by Stewart, Galbraith & CO who ran the distillery until 1895. In 1919 Scotia made up one of the six Campbeltown distilleries who were brought together in attempts to share costs and avoid closure. Unfortunately, five out of the six failed and in 1924 Scotia was saved by Duncan MacCallum who later committed suicide in 1930 after falling into financial difficulty. The distillery was later bought by Bloch Bros whom added the Glen to the name. Through the next coming years, the distillery went through numerous ownerships and even closed its doors for a period in 1984-1989 and again in 1994-1999 when it was returned to full production under the management of Glen Catrine Bonded Warehouse Ltd. Today you can find some independent bottles of Glen Scotia and in 2015 a new range was introduced with a new design to bring into the modern era.
