Glen Moray 12 Years Old

Cullercoats is situated on the North East Coast of England, in the district of North Tyneside. The village lies two miles north of the river Tyne ten miles east of the city of Newcastle. he village is bounded to the northern point  by Cullercoats Radio Station with its 120 feet high radio mast and to the Southern point by St.George's Church with its 180 feet high spire. These structures give the village two prominent boundary landmarks.

It is most picturesque cove protected by two harbour walls to the north and south. Here the lifeboat station was established in 1852. The names of twelve lifeboats and the dates they were stationed here are listed on the sides of the container. This sets the scene for the four sides and lid which depicts two paintings of heroic events and three paintings of the dya to dya life in 1800 and early 1900's.

These magnificent works by famous artists are taken from the original oil paintings on exhibition at the Laing Art Gallery - Newcastle Upon Tyne, being part of the Tyne and Wear Museum. We should like to acknowledge their assistance  in allowing the use of the originals for this project. Cullercoats Crescent Club and the members will celebrate the millennium with a special memento depcting, "The Club, the Village and The Lifeboat". To this end we have used scenes of Cullercoats Bay by famous painters "Jobling, Charlton and Parker", from an age when Cullercoats was a working village, with a great many of people deriving their living from the sea. The Lifeboat and Watch House being the guardians of that livelihood. The Cullercoats Watch House, depicted in the picture, "Launching the life boat" and "The day is done", was officially opened on October 12th, 1879 on the site of a traditional fisherman's lookout and to house the Cullercoats Volunteer Life Brigade. A pre-existing clock tower was incorporated in the design. Cullercoats Crescent Club Committee has commissioned this Limited Millennium Edition 12 year old Geln Moray Single Highland Malt Whisky (only 5000 numbered bottles have been commissioned) for the exclusive benefit of the members. They hope that you will keep and treasure your numbered bottle and container as a collector's item. It is very rare that a club in a small village such as Cullercoats can produce a "gift" for its, members, and as such, this will be a much sought after and collectable memento. Our Cullercoats Crescent Club was founded on the present site of 1 Hudleston Street Cullercoats, in November 1946 and became affiliated to the C.I.U on the 29th May 1947. The current full membership is 1357. The club overlooks the North Sea and has magnificent panoramic views of Cullercoats Cove from the sea view lounge.
